While race relations in the
U.S. have continued to improve since the Civil Rights movement of the 1960's, we
are still a long way from being a "color-blind" society.
EthnicMajority.com was launched in 2002 to educate, assist, and empower African,
Hispanic, and Asian Americans to achieve advancement in politics, business, at
work, and society in general.
EthnicMajority was founded by Clifford
Tong, CEO of
Diverse Strategies, a
business and management consulting firm in Oakland, California. He has a
long history of serving the African, Hispanic, and Asian American community,
having served as a member or director of a number of community-based nonprofit
organizations, including the Asian Business Association, Greenlining Coalition,
Northern California Supplier Development Council,
Small Business
California, California Small Business
Association, and Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce. He has also served
on a number of boards and commissions representing the minority-owned business
community, including the State of California Small Business Council, Caltrans
Business Council, State of California Department of General Services Advisory
Panel, and 1995 White House Conference on Small Business. Mr. Tong is also
the co-founder of Internet startups
BurtonValley.com and
LafayetteCentral.com.
It is through Mr. Tong's
personal and professional experiences in understanding the challenges facing
people of color at home and at work that served as the genesis for
EthnicMajority.
