Hispanic Americans represent major market for food producers

(Feedstuffs) Food producers and sellers should take heed of the growing importance of the Hispanic marketplace as Hispanics wield “a formidable combination” of fiscal optimism and purchasing power that exceeds $1 trillion, according to a report by market researcher Packaged Facts.

Hispanics, as did not-Hispanics, are experiencing job losses and home foreclosures, but they are more optimistic than other demographics about the future of the American economy and their personal financial situations, reported Packaged Facts publisher Don Montuori.

Considering that one in six Americans are now of Hispanic heritage, Latino consumers are and will be influential in the years to come, especially given “a significant number” of high-income Latino households, he said, noting that high-acculturation Latinos are more likely than their lower-income counterparts to be employed as managers and professionals, to own homes and to have household incomes of more than $75,000 per year.
