When Hispanic-American veterans complained, filmmaker Ken Burns listened.

Burns said Thursday that he will add Hispanic-American stories to “The War,” his World War II documentary that will premiere on PBS in September.

After Hispanic groups complained that the 14-plus hour work excluded them, Burns started filming material that was to be supplemental to his completed documentary. But on Thursday, Burns said he would re-edit the work, which focuses on four American towns, to incorporate the new interviews with Hispanic veterans.
